anyone with a soldering iron or workbench to enter. (sorry, contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents only)
Soldering Category:
Vintage soldering iron/gun/tools - Got a vintage soldering iron or gun?
Show us!
Soldering set-up - Show your soldering tools/set-up on your home workbench. Doesn't matter whether you have the
latest digital soldering station, an old soldering station that looks like it's been through a war (like mine)
or just starting out with a Radio Shack iron and a sponge on the kitchen table. Most of us have been there at some point.
Maybe it's an idea like using an old PC power supply fan as a soldering fume disburser or a home made holder for your roll of solder.
Take a photo and send it in.
Workbench Category:
Show us your home workbench - whether it's got the latest test equipment, vintage tube test gear, so messy you can't see it, or clean as a
whistle so it looks like it's never used.
Show and describe an example of an innovative idea pertaining to your electronics bench such as a unique way you store your test leads,
how your bench has built-in power, meters, etc. Unique parts storage, or any other thing that you think makes your bench unique.
Tight on space? Show your bench set up in it's strange or odd place whether it be the kitchen table, the hood of your wife's car or
wherever you normally work. Even if you pick it up each time to have dinner. One random pre-contest winner showed a photo
of his portable work area set up on a folded up lawn chair.
Winner Selection:
Five finalists will be chosen in each category for the random First Prize drawing in each category and all entries in either category qualify for the Fluke 87V random drawing!
Contest Dates:
The Winter 2012 Up Your Bench Contest will begin December 14, 2012 and all mailed in entries for the contest must be postmarked no later than February 28, 2013 and must be received no later than March 5th, 2013.
Emailed entries must be received no later than February 28, 2013.

General Rules for all Up Your Bench Contests (the fine print):
The following are the official rules for all "Up Your Bench" contests on UpYourBench.org, Steve's Antique Technology,
StevenJohnson.com, and any related web sites. Specific rules when posted above also apply for each separate contest and category.
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY. PURCHASE FROM ANY WEB SITES OR OFFERS LINKED ON UPYOURBENCH.ORG WILL NOT IMPROVE CHANCES OF WINNING.
Contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents only. Entries from commerical companies or organazations are prohibited. Contests are for individuals with home workshops, benches, etc.. Photos of any commercially owned equipment or set-ups will be disqualified.
All winners must be 18 years of age or older, unless otherwise stated and/or posted.
NOTE: In order to promote an interest in the electronic field by younger electronics enthusiasts, for those under the age of 18 it is recommended that you ask
a parent or your legal guardian to enter the contest on your behalf. They may state in the description on the entry form your age and that the description and any photos submitted are yours although they will need to supply their information as the contest entrant and they will be the official winners.
1. Entering Contests and Choosing and Contacting Winners
Winners of random drawing contests will be chosen from all entries received. The odds of winning any prize depends on the number of eligible entries received. Method of selecting random winners may vary from contest to contest. See current contest description for details.
Entrants should mail entries to "Up Your Bench Contest" PO Box 1, Elbridge NY 13060 USA. Mailed entries must include the
official entry form completely filled out agreeing to the terms and rules
of the contest that are posted on this web site along with a clear photo (if required) for entry into any contest category.
Your name and a valid email or postal address must be written on the back of any photo submitted along with any other
specific entry information requested in the contest announcement.
Entrants may also email entries using the correct contest entry email address contest@upyourbench.org with the subject line "Contest Entry", and any other specific entry information requested in the contest announcement.
Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology or UpYourBench.org is not responsible for and will not consider incomplete or incorrect entries either by mail or emailed or any mailed or emailed entries not received by the contest deadlines. Emailed entries must contain all required information including an attached photo if required and be received no later than date stated in contest information.
Winners of all prizes will be notified by email sent to the "senders or entrants" email given when entering the contest. Winners will be given seven days to respond and confirm their street address and phone number. Winners that do not respond within seven days will be disqualified and prize will not be awarded. Contest prizes will be shipped to street addresses only. Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology or UpYourBench.org can not guarantee any shipments and will not be responsible for any damage or loss of shipment by any carrier.
Canadian winners may be asked to supply reliable shipping options to their local address. Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology or UpYourBench.org can not guarantee any shipments to Canada and will not be responsible for any damage or loss of shipment.
Sorry, only one entry per person per category is allowed unless multiple entries are specifically allowed and stated in the contest posting. Unless otherwise specified in an individual contest post, no person may enter any contest category more than once by using multiple email addresses or postal addresses. Those that do may be disqualified from the current and any future contests.
Claiming of prizes requires an email reply from the winning sender email address within 7 days of notification being sent to the email used to enter. email must state and confirm all contact information including full name, address, email address, and street address. Failure to respond or give incomplete or incorrect information shall mean that the winner forfeits the prize. I am not required to award any prizes forfeited by the chosen winner(s).
2. Submission of photo, text or other content for contests.
If a photo is required and submitting photo by email, photo must be attached to entry email. Email entries that require a photo with no photo attached or entries with photos sent in separate emails may be disqualified.
Entries selected for display and to win "best of" contests or any other contests requiring photo, text or other content from the entrants will be judged and selected entirely at the
discretion of Steve Johnson of Steve's Antique Technology unless otherwise stated in the contest description.
By submitting any photo or additional information you hereby grant Steve Johnson, UpYourBench.org, Steve's Antique Technology, and its affiliates, subsidiaries, licensees and assigns, an irrevocable, perpetual and royalty-free right to use, reproduce, edit, display, transmit, prepare derivative works of, modify, publish and otherwise make use of the submitted photos or other information in any and all media, whether now known or hereinafter created, throughout the world and for any purpose.
In addition to other things, the rights granted to Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology and UpYourBench.org includes but is not limited to the right to resize, crop, censor, compress, edit, feature, caption, affix logos to, and to otherwise alter or make use of the submitted photo;
By submitting any photo or information to Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology or UpYourBench.org, you hereby represent and warrant that the submitted photo or information does not and shall not infringe on any copyright, any rights of privacy or publicity of any person, or any other right of any third party, and you have the right to grant any and all rights and licenses granted to Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology, and UpYourBench.org herein, including but not limited to all necessary rights under copyright, free and clear of any claims or encumbrances;
You acknowledge and agree that Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology, and UpYourBench.org shall have no obligation to post, display or otherwise make publicly available any photo or information submitted by you, and may, in its sole and unfettered discretion, remove, edit, modify or delete any photo or information that you submit to Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology, or UpYourBench.org;

Photos, items, or information submitted by you to the Site shall be the property of Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology and UpYourBench.org. Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology and UpYourBench.org shall have no obligation to preserve, return or otherwise make available to you or others any photos, items, or information so submitted.
3. Awarding Prizes
Winners are solely responsible for all taxes and/or fees that may be incurred. All winners at Steve Johnson's request may be required to verify proper and legal picture identification within 30 days of notification of winning the cash prize. Winner may forfeit any and all cash or other any winnings if verification cannot or has not been made within 30 days. If cash winnings, upon proper verification any cash winnings will be awarded by check, and mailed to winner's mailing address within seven (7) business days after winner submits any properly filled out any and all government documents required.
Each prizewinner must supply Steve's Antique Technology and UpYourBench.org with his/her legal name, mailing address, birth date, daytime and nighttime telephone numbers.
Winners may not request substitutions of prize winnings. All winners are solely responsible for any and all taxes and/or import duties, fees, and all such additional costs that may be incurred.
Neither Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology, UpYourBench.org, UpYourBench.org prize suppliers, contest or web site sponsors, nor employees of Steve's Antique Technology and UpYourBench.org may be held liable for any warranty, costs, damage, injury, or any other claims incurred as a result of usage of any prize once possession has been taken of the product by the winner, his/her family, or associates. Steve's Antique Technology and UpYourBench.org are not liable for any loss arising out of or in connection with or resulting from any contest promoted by Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology or UpYourBench.org.
All prizes are new unless otherwise stated in the contest description. If the specified prize becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology and UpYourBench.org may substitute a prize of like or equal value or a cash award.
Winner names and locations (town/city/state/province only, no street addresses) will be posted on the contest web site for a minimum of 30 days.
Employees and families of Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology, and UpYourBench.org or manufacturers and/or distributors of any prizes are prohibited from entering any contest or winning any prizes awarded by Steve Johnson, Steve's Antique Technology or UpYourBench.org.
